Title: VP, Business Development Estate & Trust Services
Location: Toronto, ON
The role:
Reporting directly to the CEO, the Vice President of Business Development leads national sales and strategic initiatives to drive the growth of our clients’ trust services business.
What will your role be responsible for?
- Develop and execute strategic plans to drive the growth of our clients’ trust services business.
- Collaborate across internal teams to deliver exceptional service to clients, partners, and external stakeholders.
- Coordinates with the Estate & Trust team to ensure the successful achievement of regional and national goals related to external new business sources and service excellence.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with COIs (Centers of Influence) to enhance collaboration and value for high-net-worth clients.
- Lead the national rollout strategy to grow the COI referral network across all key Canadian markets.
- Leads client engagements related to presenting and selling our clients’ services.
- Ensure that new business onboarded meets business standards and practices.
- Develop and implement a business plan to ensure the successful achievement of the overall goals to grow our clients’ external referral sources
- Work with Estate & Trust leadership to deliver national initiatives, including training sessions, client presentations, webinars, and thought leadership content.
- Stay current on Estate and Trust legislation, including common law, case law, and internal policies.
- Organize and deliver seminars, client events, and training sessions to raise brand awareness and generate business opportunities.
- Identify and escalate potential legal risks requiring external legal counsel to the CEO.
- Collaborate with compliance, legal, operations, and other internal teams to resolve onboarding and operational issues for new business.
- Leads key projects to support the success achievement of our clients’ business growth strategies.
- Prepare and present reports to senior leadership and the Board of Directors.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Knowledge/skills requirements:
- Degree in Business Management or relevant field;
- Minimum 5+ years experience within the Trust Services industry;
- Minimum 5+ years of experience and advanced knowledge of relevant legislation for Will, Estate and Trust administration;
- STEP or MTI designation would be an asset;
- Business development and trust services sales experience and proven track record for growth;
- Technical proficiency related to wealth planning strategies such as insurance, philanthropy, taxation;
- Developed and executed successful business strategies aligned with an enterprise vision;
- Excels at fostering strong business partnerships internally and in the market, including industry associations and third parties;
- Good knowledge of data analysis and performance metrics;
- Excellent and impactful written and oral skills, including the ability to make persuasive presentations, effectively negotiate, navigate conflict, and rapidly weigh all opinions to determine the best-fit approach.
- Travel will be required.
