Financial Operations Analyst (Middle-Back Office)

Downtown Montreal (Hybrid)

About the Firm

Our client is an independent wealth management firm based in downtown Montreal, offering personalized and comprehensive wealth management services through a unique multi-disciplinary structure. The firm’s group of companies spans wealth management, financial and tax planning, law, international taxation, and philanthropy—providing clients with a fully integrated approach to managing their financial affairs.

Role Overview

The firm is seeking a Financial Operations Analyst to join the Investment team in a middle-back office capacity. Reporting directly to the Chief Investment Officer, you will be responsible for the operational infrastructure that supports the firm’s investment activities—from account openings and transaction processing to custodian reconciliations and client reporting.

This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with strong investment operations experience who thrives on accuracy, process, and problem-solving within a boutique, client-focused environment.

Core Responsibilities

  • Reconcile custodian data against the internal investment accounting system, investigating and resolving any discrepancies
  • Process and monitor operational instructions related to financial transactions and settlement activity
  • Open and set up bank and/or custodian accounts for new and existing clients
  • Record transactions into the internal investment accounting system accurately and on a timely basis
  • Verify the accuracy of information received from custodians and external service providers
  • Interpret and apply data mapping rules between internal systems and external platforms to ensure consistency
  • Coordinate with external counterparties to resolve reconciliation differences efficiently
  • Ensure client files remain compliant, including investment policy statements, service agreements, and client communications
  • Prepare fund subscription and redemption documentation as required
  • Maintain ongoing communication with custodians and other service providers
  • Produce various reports related to back-office and investment operations
  • Support the preparation and distribution of client-facing reports
  • Document and maintain departmental procedures to ensure operational continuity
  • Take on additional related duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in the financial services or investment industry
  • Solid understanding of investment accounting and performance measurement principles
  • Strong knowledge of the investment and wealth management industry
  • Bilingual proficiency in French and English (spoken and written) is required
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Meticulous attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Collaborative team player who communicates effectively across departments
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and consistently meet deadlines
  • Experience with fund clearing and settlement platforms (e.g., Fundserv, FundSettle) is an asset
  • Experience developing or implementing technology tools is considered a plus

Compensation & Work Environment

The firm offers a competitive salary based on experience, a comprehensive benefits package effective from the date of hire, and a stimulating, flexible work environment focused on excellence.
